Does Your Rechargeable Battery Feel Hot?

Fire prevention poster: “Feels hot? Stop using it.” with a phone near a charging cable.

Phones, tablets, laptops, power banks, tools, and many other rechargeable devices use lithium-ion batteries. If something doesn’t seem right, don’t ignore it.

Stop using a device if it:

- Feels unusually hot

- Starts to swell or change shape

- Has a strange smell

- Leaks or smokes

- Makes popping or hissing sounds

A damaged battery can overheat and create a serious fire hazard. Small action. Big impact.

This Fire Prevention Week, charge into fire safety by paying attention to what your devices are telling you.
